Obituary

Chimene Demetrius Desir was born on March 13, 1935 in Fort-Liberte, Haiti to Saint Victor Desir and Elena Joseph.  She was amongst the second to last of her five siblings.  She is survived by her sister Marie Marlene Desir.  Chimene began her educational experience in Fort-Liberte, Haiti in which she received her high school diploma.  She then relocated to Cap-Haitian, Haiti where she continued her educational studies and received a certification in sewing.  Chimene was a gifted woman with an extraordinary spirit of compassion, patience, humbleness, and love for people.

In 1957, Chimene married the love of her life, Acacia Demetrius in Cap-Haitian, Haiti at Notre Dame D’Lassamption.  The couple went on to have five children which included three sons and two daughters; respectively Daniel Demetrius, Guy Demetrius, Alex Demetrius, Surzie Pierre(maiden)Surzie Demetrius, and Marguerite Demetrius.  As of today, Chimene left behind six grandchildren including Sandy Pierre-Joseph, Monica Demetrius, Wendy Mompoint, Alex Demetrius, Marthe Pierre, and Nick Ryan Demetrius.

As a couple, Chimene and her husband began traveling together to the United States in 1992.  They also pursued an entrepreneurship in which they ventured from agriculture, a fabric warehouse, and was one of Cap-Haitian’s largest distributors for Coca-Cola.  After the passing of her husband in 1998, Chimene expanded her business ventures to the United States which included import/export of all household items.  In 2014, she permanently moved to Miami, FL to retire and be amongst her loved ones.

Unanimously, her children praised her as a loving mother who enjoyed to give and cared for people.  Chimene will be mostly remembered for having a strong faith in God, a woman who sang, danced, loved throwing parties, smiled, and maintained consistent goals until her last breath.  We will certainly miss her presence, but we know that she is with the Lord and her life will never end.  For this reason, we rather celebrate her life.  We cherish the memories that she has provided us all and plan to uplift her memory throughout our daily routines.
