Obituary
Alizee Mere
June 9, 1970 – January 19, 2018
Alizee Mere was born on June 9, 1970 in Port -Au-Prince, Haiti, to Alberto Mere and Gracieus Beaubien. He was their only son; thus, he always played the role of protector to his 6 sisters and his mother after his father passed away while Alizee was still a child. He is remembered as a very easy-going person, who loved his family, and was always willing to help others.
Alizee was treasured from an early age by his family and friends which included his sisters: Amaya, Ismene, Rosie, Annette, Claudine, and Mimose, as well as his very close friend, Frankier. His children, Anthony, Joshua, Andrew, and Angelique bought him the most joy. Twenty-one years ago, Alizee married the love of his life, Kathia, who remained his dutiful wife until he passed away.
On January 19, 2018, Alizee transitioned from his earthly form while visiting his family in Haiti. He was 47 years old. As a Christian, Alizee knew that a place had already been prepared for him and knew of God’s promise of a time beyond the present in Revelation 21:4 that “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Alizee is survived by his mother; his wife; his children; 5 of his sisters; his uncles: Cebien, Augustine, and Antoine; as well as, his niece, Amanda; his nephew, Peterson; as well as his first cousins: Anita, Aileen, ODanny, Ketly, David, Winda, Jerry, Kensly, Jean, and Rosanne; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Alizee attended Lindsey Hopkins Technical School in Miami, Florida after migrating here from Haiti. He was employed as a truck driver for the City of Miami Shores for the past 17 years. He was a very hard worker who did whatever he could to support his family. He was always very active and dedicated to whatever task was at hand, whether working as a delivery driver, part time at Publix, or doing automotive repairs. In his spare-time he enjoyed playing soccer and watching action movies. However, more than anything else, Alizee enjoyed spending time with his family and helping others in anyway he could. He could shrug off almost anything and was known for his signature “Uhm” expression with a raised shoulder as if to say, “that’s life, ah well.”
The family wishes to thank everyone who showed support during this time of extraordinary grief and encourages you to keep Alizee’s memory alive.
A visitation with the family and viewing of the body of Alizee Mere will take place on Friday February 9, 2017 from 5pm to 9pm at St. Fort’s Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held at Fulford United Methodist at 10am on Saturday February 10, 2018. He will be taken to his final resting place, Forest lawn Central Cemetery in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, immediately after the funeral service.
