     Biography of Gesner Nicolas Jean

Born of the liaison of Nicolas Jean & Nerida Jean, the 3rd of September 1951. Gesner Nicolas Jean completed his primary education at “L’ecole Augustin Guilaume” in Cap Haiti and his secondary education at the “Lycee Phillipe Guerrier” of the same city. Entrepreneur by nature, he studied and practiced tailoring while still in school.  In 1968, he met and accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and savior and got baptized in the 7th day Adventists Church. He immediately began working for the Lord and served in diverse functions at the local church La Faucette. He was a very active member of the Pathfinder Club and ultimately obtained the honor of being a Master Guide.

Arriving to the United States in 1978, he became a very active member of Sion 7th Day Adventist church serving as youth director, pathfinder director, church treasurer, and church elder. This is also where he was able to meet the beautiful Nelly Regis and they married on the 23rd of December 1979. God later blessed them with the arrival of a daughter who they named Geslyne Jean.

Gesner Jean was a hard worker and a great provider.  He worked as an insurance agent for many years and spent 19 years as a driver for Miami Jewish Home. He was a great advocate for education and had a passion for business and ventured in videography, photography and tax preparation services known as “Ton Ges Tax Services.” He loved music and most sport’s but his favorite sport was soccer. He served as a soccer referee in various tournaments in Haiti and Miami and was known for his knowledge and fairness. A devoted, hardcore, and overzealous Brazil fan, he was looking forward to this upcoming world cup.

Gesner was a family man; He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Gesner was a proud, passionate, and Godly man who loved his church and his community. He was a problem solver, a comedian with jokes to last a lifetime. He was a fighter with an exuberant presence, contagious and boisterous laugh. He loved life and fought hard to hold on to it but surrendered to the will of God on Saturday April 28th 2018, he was surrounded by his family taking his last breaths in the arms of his wife listening to the angelic voice of his sister in law Gladys singing his favorite hymns with his daughter and niece holding his hands. Gesner was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
