JULIANNE

JULIANNE DENNISON

Jun 19, 1945 - Jul 02, 2019

Julianne “Julie” (Sanda) Dennison, age 74, recently passed away unexpectedly in her home in Miami Beach, Florida. Julie was born June 19, 1945, in Cloquet, Minnesota to Toivo and Helen Sanda. She graduated from Cloquet High School and attended the University of Minnesota. She married David Dennison and together they lived in Africa, France, and all over the United States.

Julie was an avid reader and a gifted writer, but she also stepped away from the pages and lived an extraordinary life. Among her many accomplishments, Julie was a flight attendant with American Eagle for 19 years, an ordained ELCA minister with a Master of Divinity degree, an English teacher in China, a world traveler who spoke four languages, and a trained massage therapist. In her later years, she became a fixture on the Chicago storytelling scene while also taking classes at the renowned Chicago school of comedy “Second City” to hone her wacky sense of humor.

She is survived by her beloved children, Nathan Dennison of Des Moines, IA; Leah Dennison of Denver, CO; Eve (Eric) Dennison Pollock of Madison, WI; and Anne (Amy Corrigan) Dennison of Minneapolis, MN. She was the loving grandmother to Calvin and Adrian Dennison, and Natalie and Annabelle Pollock. In addition to her parents, Julie was predeceased by her brothers, David and Peter. She also leaves behind her sisters, Rose (Wayne) Herstad and Nancy (Garth) Johnson, both of Denver, CO; Mary (Rob) Tschida and Sheila (Keith) Depre, both of Cloquet, MN; her brother, Steve (Judy) Sanda of Cloquet, MN, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends all over the world. With her vibrant and joyful spirit, she made friends wherever she went, and she will be missed by all.

Services will be arranged in the future in Chicago and in her hometown of Cloquet, MN.

Julie lived life with a generous and loving heart. She saw the good in everyone. She also had a strong interest in and fought for social justice issues her whole life. In recent years, she happily sponsored two children through Children International charity. In her honor, memorials may be sent to Children  International (https://www.children.org/) or to any local social justice organization in your community.
